SRINAGAR: In a series of coordinated efforts to uphold safety protocols, ensure lawful trade practices, and prevent misuse of sensitive materials, J&K Police conducted comprehensive inspection drives across multiple districts, including Awantipora, Ganderbal, Sopore, and Budgam.

In Awantipora, police teams carried out an extensive inspection of chemical, fertilizer, and hardware shops. The drive aimed at verifying stock registers, sale and purchase records, licenses, and other mandatory documents. The initiative was focused on detecting irregularities and curbing illegal activities related to hazardous materials. Police officials emphasized that such inspections would continue to promote accountability and community safety. Shopkeepers were advised to maintain proper documentation and cooperate fully during checks.

Similarly, in Ganderbal and Sopore districts, special police teams, supervised by senior district officers, inspected outlets dealing with chemicals, fertilizers, hardware, and paint items. The inspections included detailed checks of storage conditions, invoices, sale records, and licensing compliance. In Ganderbal, the focus was on monitoring the sale and handling of potentially misused chemicals and solvents, with shopkeepers sensitized on safe storage practices and reporting suspicious activities.

In Sopore, shop owners were instructed to keep complete records of buyers, including identification details, purchase quantities, and intended use. They were also advised to install CCTV surveillance to enhance traceability and security. Notably, Sopore police recently completed a district-wide census of chemical stores, fertilizer outlets, hardware shops, and vehicle workshops to strengthen monitoring and verification.

In Budgam, surprise checks were conducted under the supervision of police officers from various stations and posts. Focus areas included verifying stock records, sale registers, licenses, and storage conditions to prevent illegal diversion or misuse of regulated materials. The drive aimed to reinforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulations.

J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening preventive vigilance, regulatory enforcement, and community safety. The police emphasized that such inspection drives would be ongoing across districts to monitor sensitive commercial establishments. Authorities urged traders and the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activity.

These coordinated efforts reflect the police’s proactive approach to safeguarding public safety, preventing illegal activities, and maintaining peace across the Kashmir region.
