Applauds J&K Journalists’ courage, commitment
Srinagar: On the occasion of National Press Day, President Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Dr Farooq Abdullah extended warm greetings and deep appreciation to the journalist fraternity of Jammu & Kashmir and the entire nation, acknowledging the vital role journalists play in upholding a free, fair, and responsible press, which remains a cornerstone of a vibrant democracy.
He commended the courage and resilience shown by journalists in Jammu and Kashmir, who continue to work with dedication despite challenging and sensitive circumstances. He expressed solidarity with media professionals and recognised their unwavering commitment to truth, public awareness, and the preservation of democratic values.
In an era marked by the rapid spread of misinformation, the NC chief emphasised the heightened importance of unbiased, ethical, and factual reporting. According to him, credible journalism not only strengthens public trust but also ensures accountability and fosters an informed and harmonious society.
On this National Press Day, the former CM reiterated the need to safeguard press freedom and to create an environment where journalists can perform their duties without fear or prejudice. He highlighted the essential role of the media as a beacon of transparency, integrity, and responsible communication for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the country at large.
