KATIHAR: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday claimed that PM Narendra Modi was not maintaining the dignity of his post by using words such as ‘katta’.
Addressing an election rally in Bihar’s Katihar, Vadra asserted that the Congress was now fighting the same battle that Mahatma Gandhi once fought against the British imperialists.
She said that on the one hand, the PM was hailing ‘Vande Mataram’, which stood for non-violence, and on the other, he was talking about ‘katta’ (country-made pistol).
Vadra said the Congress was engaged in the same kind of struggle that Mahatma Gandhi once led against British rule. Criticising the NDA government, she alleged that it had failed to generate employment for the youth and was handing over public sector undertakings to “two corporate friends.” Taking aim at the BJP’s welfare promises, she added, “BJP thinks they will bribe women with Rs 10,000 and get votes.”
She also attacked the BJP over ‘vote chori’ (vote theft) and accused the Election Commission of India being an accomplice. She said that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and two other senior officials of the ECI Vivek Joshi and SS Sandhu are “accompanying” in ‘vote chori’.
“In ‘vote chori’, they are being accompanied by three other people – they are Gyanesh Kumar, Vivek Joshi, and SS Sandhu. These three are the seniormost officers of the Election Commission. They are shameless and aren’t fulfilling their constitutional duties. They have deleted 65 lakh voters’ names in Bihar. Should they be allowed to hide behind their posts?,” she said.
She continued, “Is it good that they live a peaceful life post-retirement? Should people forget them? Should people forget or remember those who have betrayed the Constitution and the very country? You must remember these three names along with PM Modi and Amit Shah.”
