Srinagar: A militant was killed in a fierce encounter by security forces in the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir on Sunday morning, the official sources said.

The security forces acting on a tip off about the presence of some militants, launched a search operation at Analwan Langate in Kupwara early Sunday morning.
Sources said that the forces have recovered AK-47 rifle, arms and ammuniation and some cash from the encounter site. The identity of the militant could not be ascertained till now.
