SRINAGAR: In a landmark step towards environmental sustainability in education, the Private Schools Association of Jammu & Kashmir (PSAJK) has entered into a collaboration with the Green Campus Program under the aegis of The Climate Reality Project Organization to transform 100 school campuses across the Jammu & Kashmir into eco-friendly, green campuses.
The meeting, chaired by Mr Manzoor Ahmad wangnoo. Head, Environmental Committee, PSAJK and Baba Nazrul Islam, President PSAJK, along with the Association’s core executive team and representatives from the Green Campus Program headed by Environmental Lawyer and Advisor, The Climate Reality Project, Mr. Nadeem Qadri, was held to chart out a comprehensive action plan.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Aadil Ahmad Bhat, Project Officer, Green Campus Program under The Climate Reality Project.
The initiative will focus on adoption of waste management and recycling systems, implementation of rainwater harvesting and water conservation measures, introduction of renewable energy solutions in school infrastructure, tree plantation and biodiversity preservation drives, and integration of environmental education into school activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Baba Nazrul Islam said, “Our schools are not just centres of academic excellence, but should also serve as models of environmental awareness and social responsibility. This initiative will empower students and educators to take tangible steps toward a greener, cleaner future.”
A joint working committee will be established to monitor the implementation process, conduct training sessions, and evaluate the progress of participating schools.
The collaboration marks a visionary step by PSAJK towards promoting climate action, sustainability, and responsible citizenship among the younger generation.
