BJP releases first list of 71 candidates for Bihar election

NEW DELHI: Days after the National Democratic Alliance partners agreed on seat-sharing for the Bihar Assembly Elections due next month, the main coalition constituent BJP on Tuesday released its first list for the two-phased polls.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has released its first list of candidates with 71 names. There are a total of 243 seats in the Bihar Legislative Assembly. As per the NDA seat-sharing agreement for Bihar polls, the BJP will field a total of 101 candidates.
According to the BJP first list for Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha will contest the polls from Tarapur and Lakhisarai, respectively.
Former deputy chief minister Tarkishore Prasad and state minister Renu Devi have been fielded from Katihar and Bettiah, respectively. Another state minister Nitin Nabin will fight the election from Bankipur.
Ministers Nitish Mishra will seek re-election from the Jhanjharpur seat while Mangal Pandey will contest from Siwan. Shreyasi Singh will carry the party’s flag in Jamui seat.
Gayatri Devi has been fielded from Parihar, Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu from Chhatapur, and Dr Prem Kumar from Gaya Town.
Bihar will go to polls in two phases on November 6 and 11, while the results will be announced on November 14.
The main contest is between the incumbent NDA, led by the BJP and JD(U), and the Mahagathbandhan, spearheaded by the Congress and the RJD.
