Srinagar: The Economic Offences Wing (Crime Branch Kashmir) has registered a case against Amir Ahmad Munshi, son of Late Ghulam Ahmad Munshi, after allegations of forgery and fraud.
The complaint states that Munshi, who hails from Hamdaniya Colony, Bemina, Srinagar, falsely claimed to be the brother of Showkat Hussain.
The CBK in a statement alleged that he fabricated several official documents—including a Municipal Date of Birth Certificate, Domicile Certificate, School Records, Voter List, and Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC)—and submitted these to a court in Srinagar.
“Based on preliminary investigation, the acts of Munshi appear to violate Sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), and 471 (using forged documents as genuine) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC),” the statement said.
A case has been formally registered at the Police Station Economic Offences Wing (Crime Branch Kashmir), and an investigation is underway, it added.
