Visits bereaved family of former DGP Ghulam Jeelani Pandit
SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu & Kashmir and the entire nation on the auspicious occasion of Navratri.
In his message, Dr Farooq said, “Navratri is a celebration of devotion, strength, and the victory of good over evil. It is a time to reflect on the values of righteousness, compassion, and unity. I extend my heartfelt greetings to all those observing the festival, and I pray that these sacred days bring peace, prosperity, and happiness to every household.”
He further emphasized the importance of maintaining the spirit of communal harmony and brotherhood, which has always been the hallmark of Jammu & Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage.
He called upon the people to celebrate the festival in accordance with its true spirit with devotion, discipline, and dedication towards the greater good of society.
Meanwhile, Dr Farooq visited the residence of the late Ghulam Jeelani Pandit, former Director General of Police (DGP), who passed away recently at Rajbagh. Expressing heartfelt condolences, Dr Farooq offered Fatiha for the departed soul and prayed for eternal peace to the deceased and strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
He was accompanied by Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani. Women’s Wing Provincial President Er. Sabiya Qadri and other prominent individuals were also present on the occasion to pay their respects.
Later, Dr Farooq visited Lal Chowk, where he interacted with a number of local traders. During his visit, he listened to their concerns and assured them of his support in addressing the challenges faced by the business community.
