SRINAGAR: Expressing concern over the deplorable condition of the people of Punjab after the recent devastating flood the All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has asked the people of Jammu & Kashmir to come forward and help the flood hit people.
In a statement issued here, APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said that people irrespective of their faith and religion should come forward and help the people who are in distress at present. Raina said that the same would convey a message of love, compassion and brotherhood.
“In 2014 when the Kashmir valley was hit by floods the people of Punjab came out in full support of their Kashmiri brethren. Hundreds of trucks containing food grains were sent to the valley by the people of Punjab and some other essential items also came to this place from the neighbouring state,” said Raina.
The APSCC Chairman said that since the people of Punjab are suffering badly at present it is the duty and responsibility of the valley residents to help the Punjabi brethren. He said that some people and organisations have already started contributing adding that more efforts need to be done in this regard.
Making a special mention of one Balbir Singh, a resident of Srinagar the APSCC Chairman said that this generous man has donated 350 tents, 250 tarpaulin sheets and 100 mattress. He asked the people of Jammu and Kashmir to come forward and help the people of Punjab at this critical juncture.
