Police organise cyber awareness workshop in Handwara

SRINAGAR: In a significant step towards creating a safer digital environment, Police in Handwara have organised a comprehensive Cyber Awareness Programme at Police Station Handwara. The initiative aimed to educate citizens about cyber threats, safe internet usage, and measures to prevent online fraud and financial scams.
The programme was attended by police officials, representatives from local banks, and members of the public. Participants were briefed on various aspects of cyber security, including phishing attacks, social media safety, online banking security, password protection, and reporting mechanisms for cyber crimes.
Police officers emphasized the growing importance of cyber vigilance in today’s digital age. Citizens were urged to remain alert while using online platforms and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the police. The session also highlighted the role of banks and financial institutions in educating customers about safe digital transactions and preventing online fraud.
Handwara Police conducted interactive discussions, addressing participants’ queries and demonstrating practical ways to identify and avoid cyber threats. This initiative is part of J&K Police’s ongoing efforts to ensure citizen safety, both offline and online, and to foster a culture of vigilance and cooperation in combating cyber crimes. Citizens were encouraged to actively participate in future awareness programmes and remain informed about emerging cyber threats.
