Departmental farms are valuable assets: Dir Agri Kmr

SRINAGAR: Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah, on Friday visited the Seed Multiplication Farm (SM Farm) in Padgampora, Pulwama, to assess the progress of preparations related to seed stock, supply, and distribution to the farming community.
During the visit, he toured various sections of the farm and reviewed the ongoing interventions and activities.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director emphasized that departmental farms are valuable assets of the department and play a crucial role in the evolving global agriculture landscape. He stated, “Our immediate goal is to achieve self-reliance in seed requirements for different agricultural crops in the region. Departmental seed multiplication farms are the primary resources to realize this ambitious objective.”
He directed concerned officers and technical experts to work with a mission mode approach to ensure the successful achievement of all targets, including the assured availability of quality seeds for farmers.
The Director was accompanied by Dr. Ashaq Hussain, Professor and Head of the Agronomy Division at SKUAST-K, along with senior officers of the department.
