Thousands Throng Hazratbal, Abdullahs Offer Magrib Namaz At Revered Shrine
Srinagar: Thousands of people thronged Hazratbal and other shrines here and elsewhere as Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety on Saturday.
The biggest congregation was held at Dargah Hazratbal here where thousands of devotees including men, women and children converged to have a glimpse of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) after five-time prayers.
Besides sprawling Hazratbal, special congregational prayers were at Janab Sahib Soura, Asar-i-Sharif Shahri Kalashpora, Lal Bazar, Khanqah-i-Maula, Ziarat Hazrat Dastgeer Sahib (RA), Syed Yaqoob Sahab (RA) Sonwar, Khawaja Naqshband Sahab (RA) and Ziarat Makhdoom Sahib (RA). Hundreds of people thronged the Hazratbal and other shrines for night long prayers on the occasion yesterday.
In a post on X, Omar Abdullah said, “Eid Milad-un-Nabi Mubarak. On this day of light & remembrance, may our Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings of love, mercy and compassion illuminate our hearts, guide our actions and unite us in peace and harmony.”
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah joined the devotees at the revered Hazratbal Shrine here on the auspicious occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW). The Chief Minister offered Magrib Namaz (evening prayers) at the shrine, which houses the sacred Moy-e-Muqaddas (Holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad, PBUH). After the prayers, he was blessed with a glimpse of the Holy Relic, along-with the congregation of devotees.
Former J&K Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq also participated in the congregational prayers at the shrine.
On this spiritually significant occasion, Omar Abdullah prayed for everlasting peace, communal harmony, and the well-being and prosperity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chief Minister extended warm greetings to the people on Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), urging them to uphold the noble teachings of the Prophet (SAW) as a guiding light for unity, compassion and service to humanity.
On Friday, Omar criticised the administration for not rescheduling the Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi holiday, despite the government calendar stating that holidays were “subject to the appearance of the moon.”
