SRINAGAR: IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar celebrated 79th Independence Day of our Country with full enthusiasm by organising a series of activities which include a drawing competition, Tiranga Yatra and lecture series.
The guests included Rakesh Kumar, Deputy Commandant CISF, Central jail and Hare Ram, Assistant Commandant, CRPF. The Tiranga rally was organised at the Regional Centre in presence of guests, staff and students on Thursday.
In another event, a lecture series was organized at IGNOU Regional Centre to commemorate the occasion and to inspire patriotic values among students and staff. The event was marked by the presence of distinguished speakers from the academia and the armed forces that include DR. A.H. Rizvi, Regional Director, Rakesh Kumar, Deputy Commandant CISF, Central jail and Hare Ram, Assistant Commandant, CRPF. Each speaker shared their perspectives on the significance of India’s independence, the role of security forces in maintaining national integrity, and the importance of education in nation-building.
Rakesh Kumar and Hare Ram drew from their experiences in the Central Armed Police Forces, highlighting the values of courage, discipline, and service to the nation. Kumar motivated and encouraged the students to cooperate forces for a better future. He emphasized on education and to identify oneself to reach success.
In a brief address, Hare Ram motivated students to do good deeds and get success in life. Dr. Navshad emphasized the historical context of India’s freedom struggle and encouraged students to reflect on the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters.
Dr. Rizvi in his presidential address highlighted IGNOU’s commitment to inclusive education and its role in empowering citizens across all sections of society. He spoke about Independence Day & preamble of Indian Constitution. He motivated the students and urged them to serve the community and the nation. This lecture session added a thoughtful and inspiring dimension to the Independence Day celebrations and reaffirmed the spirit of patriotism and service among all present.
IGNOU Regional Centre also celebrated drawing competition in collaboration with Muwest School. The event was aimed to encourage creativity and patriotism and environment among students while commemorating the spirit of independence. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various grades, who expressed their artistic talents through vibrant and thought-provoking drawings based on themes related to India’s freedom struggle, national pride, cultural heritage and Environment.
A panel of judges evaluated the entries based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and overall presentation. The top three winners were felicitated with certificates of appreciation and the first, second and third prize was also distributed to the winners.
The event concluded on a positive note with encouraging words from the faculty and officers of IGNOU, who emphasized the importance of nurturing young talent and remembering the sacrifices made for the country’s independence. Overall, the competition was a grand success and added a creative and educational dimension to the Independence Day celebrations.
