KVK Sgr, SKUAST K launch Kisan Sampark Abhiiyan at Block Harwan

SRINAGAR: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra Srinagar SKUAST-K organized first phase of Kisan Sampark Abhiiyan- Rural Credit Workshop for the farming community under the banner of JKCIP-IFAD (Jammu and Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement of Agriculture and Allied Sectors) today on 11th August 2025 at Darbagh Harwan. The launching ceremony of District Srinagar was presided by MLA Hazratbal Constituency Salman Sagar as Chief Guest and Prof. R.H Kanth (Director Extension SKUAST-K) as Guest of Honour in august presence of Head KVK Srinagar Prof S. A. Simnani, Chief agriculture officer (DNO) Idrees Bashir, District Lead Bank Officer Ms Neelofar.
A statement issued stated that the rural credit workshop aimed to bring about competitiveness improvement and climate resilience of farmers in the region. To enhance their production, productivity and farm income through sustainable ecosystem of Value Chain support system, value addition and upscaling the market linkage of agriculture and allied commodities with special emphasis on high value niche crops to compete in the national and global market.
In his inaugural address MLA Salman Sagar appealed the farming community of the area to reap the benefits of the JKCIP- IFAD and other state and central schemes for socio-economic upliftment of the community to become self relient and self-empowered. Sagar also commended the efforts of SKUAST-K (KVK Srinagar) in association with agriculture and allied departments for their unwavering efforts to work with the farmers shoulder to shoulder at gross root level to make farming a sustainable commercial enterprise. Speaking on the occasion director extension R.H. Kanth stated that today’s workshop is testimony to SKUAST-K’s commitment for doorstep delivery of technological outreach interventions and good agricultural practices inclusive of improved management practices to boost farmer economic growth.
The event was attended by galaxy of officials from development departments of agriculture, horticulture, sheep, animal and fisheries and attended amongst others by representatives of J&K Bank, RSETI, and NABARD, Scientists, technical and supporting staff of KVK Srinagar; the organizers of the program. The program was moderated by Dr Aasima Rafiq the coordinator of the event. The workshop witnessed the participation of more than 100 farmers across the panchayat halkas of block Harwan.
The highlights of the event were e-login registration of first beneficiary under JKCIP of district Srinagar and distribution of sanction letters of farm machineries to the beneficiaries under HADP by Chief guest MLA Hazratbal, director extension Prof Kanth SKUAST-K in presence of Prof Simnani and Idrees Bashir. The technical session was followed by active farmer-scientist interface in which the scientists of the Kendra (Dr. I. A. Mir, Dr. Saima. Dr. Haseeb, Dr. Showket, Dr Asima) gave on spot solutions to the farmers queries.
