Pahalgam attack: Special Session Of JK Assembly Being Held In Jammu Today

Srinagar: In the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, a one-day special Session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly has been convened in Jammu on Monday.
The session was summoned by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha last week and followed a request by J&K cabinet headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Officials said the Legislative Assembly is likely to adopt a resolution in the House condemning the April 22 attack.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will also reply in the House on the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam in which a local man was among the 26 people killed, while several others were injured.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on April 24 summoned the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly to convene its session in accordance with Section 18 (1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019.
“I, Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me under section 18(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, do hereby summon the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly to meet at Jammu on Monday, the April 28, 2025 at 10.30 A.M,” said the Summon.
“Accordingly, in terms of rule 3 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, all the Members are requested to kindly attend the Session of the Legislative Assembly on the appointed date, time and place,” said an order issued by Secretary J&K Legislative Assembly.
