SRINAGAR: The Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK), the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and the Kashmir Trade Alliance (KTA) have condemned the attack on tourists in Pahalgam.
The FCIK in a statement condemned the “barbaric and inhumane” attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, who had come to the Valley with their families seeking peace, relaxation, and the beauty of its cool climate.
In an official statement, FCIK expressed profound shock and grief over this senseless act of violence that has claimed the lives of more than two dozen innocent people and devastated families who arrived here with joy and hope. This appalling act is not only an assault on human life but a direct attack on the soul of Kashmir—its centuries-old tradition of hospitality, warmth, and harmony.
“Let it be stated in the strongest terms that neither any true Kashmiri nor any follower of Islam can ever support or justify such a cowardly act. Islam is a religion rooted in peace, mercy, and the sanctity of life. The killing of innocent people is strictly forbidden and stands in stark contradiction to both the teachings of Islam and the values of Kashmiri society,” the statement reads.
FCIK has extended its deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the victims. “Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost their loved ones and those injured in this tragic incident. We urge the authorities to ensure the best possible medical care and support for the victims and their families,” the statement further said.
It added, “Kashmir has always prided itself on its hospitality. This tragedy has deeply wounded every conscientious resident of the Valley. We stand united in our unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and reaffirm our commitment to peace, communal harmony, and the safety of every resident and visitor. We call upon all segments of society to stand together, raise their voices against such brutality, and work collectively to restore faith, peace, and healing in the Valley.”
The KCCI strongly condemned this “dastardly act of violence” and demanded that authorities investigate this gruesome attack on a fast track basis and ensure that the culprits are swiftly brought to justice.
The Chamber extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured tourists. The KCCI has appealed to the authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment to all those affected.
“The KCCI believes this targeted attack is clearly designed to harm Kashmir’s reputation and undermine the flourishing tourism industry. Such acts of violence go against the hospitable nature of Kashmiri people who have always welcomed visitors with open arms, the statement said. The Chamber reiterated its commitment to supporting all measures that ensure the safety and security of tourists visiting the Kashmir Valley.
The Kashmir Trade Alliance (KTA) president Aijaz Shahdhar in a statement described the attack as “dastardly and inhumane”. “We strongly condemn the killing of innocent tourists. Kashmiris have always welcomed visitors with open hearts and warm hospitality. This tragic incident is a deliberate attempt to target and cripple our economy,” he said.
He said the KTA urges all stakeholders to come together to ensure the safety and security of tourists and calls for immediate action against those responsible for this heinous act.
