Editorial: Cowardly Killings In Pahalgam – Justice Must Prevail

Must read

Pahalgam, renowned for its breathtaking beauty, was marred by a senseless act of violence. Innocent lives were brutally cut short in a cowardly attack, leaving families devastated and an entire community in mourning. Such acts of terror have no place in a civilised society, and we unequivocally condemn this heinous crime. The perpetrators of this barbaric act must be swiftly identified, apprehended, and brought to justice.
This was not merely an attack on tourists or individuals—it was an assault on humanity, peace, and the very fabric of our society. The victims, guilty only of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, deserve justice. Their grieving families deserve answers. The people of Kashmir, who have endured decades of turmoil, deserve to live without fear. Yet, this brutal incident serves as a grim reminder that peace remains fragile and the forces of hatred continue to lurk in the shadows.
We expect immediate and decisive action from the authorities. The investigation must be swift, transparent, and uncompromising. Those responsible—whether foot soldiers or masterminds—must face the full force of the law. There can be no leniency, no excuses, and no delays. While the cycle of violence in Kashmir had diminished in recent years due to the relentless efforts of security forces and the administration, this attack underscores the urgent need for even stronger measures to dismantle terror networks once and for all.
This tragedy must serve us as a wake-up call. Condemnation alone is insufficient—we need enhanced intelligence, stricter security protocols, and an unwavering zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. The people of Kashmir have suffered enough; they deserve a future free from fear and uncertainty.
As we mourn the lives lost, we stand in solidarity with the grieving families and the resilient tourism community. Terrorism thrives in silence and apathy; we must, therefore, raise our voices louder than ever to denounce such atrocities. The perpetrators must not escape punishment. Justice must prevail—for the victims, for their loved ones, and for the future of Kashmir.
Enough is enough. The time for decisive action is now.
