KANGAN: SDM Kangan have issued a weather advisory on Saturday urging residents to take necessary precautions in light of an impending spell of inclement weather.
The advisory, released by the Office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kangan, follows a forecast by the Meteorological Centre Srinagar predicting moderate to intense showers of rain accompanied by moderate to severe thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across Jammu and Kashmir.
The advisory specifically cautions the general public of Sub Division Kangan, particularly those residing in hilly terrains, to keep children and elderly individuals safe indoors and to avoid venturing outside unnecessarily.
Recognizing the potential for disruption and emergencies, the SDM Kangan has also directed key executing agencies to remain on high alert.
Agencies such as Roads and Buildings (R&B), Beacon, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), MEIL, APCO, and the Irrigation & Flood Control Sub Division Kangan/Ganderbal have been requested to maintain a state of readiness to respond effectively to any eventuality that may arise due to the severe weather.
Furthermore, a specific directive has been issued to the Officer Commanding of Beacon’s 122 RCC Haripora to maintain strict vigilance over the damaged Kijpara Bridge. Concerns have also been raised regarding the alternate road, where the water level of Nallah Wangath has reportedly risen.
The advisory emphasizes the need for immediate reporting of any untoward incident to the undersigned’s office.
In anticipation of potential medical emergencies, the Superintendent of Trauma Hospital Kangan and the Block Medical Officer Kangan have been advised to sensitize their medical and para-medical staff to ensure the provision of round-the-clock (24×7) healthcare facilities.
To ensure seamless coordination and response during this period of heightened risk, all Heads of Departments (HODs) within the sub-division have been instructed to remain stationed in Kangan and to refrain from leaving their posts without prior permission from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office.
The public has been urged to remain vigilant and to feel free to contact the Control Room Kangan at the provided numbers, 8491029969 and 7889504595, in case of any emergency or need for assistance.
