IGNOU’s 38th Regional Convocation on March 5 at Tagore Hall

SRINAGAR: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), India’s largest open university and the top-ranked institution in the Distance Education Category of the NIRF rankings, is set to celebrate its 38th Convocation on March 5, 2025. The main event will take place at IGNOU Headquarters in New Delhi, where Hon’ble Union Minister for Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, will be the chief guest.
Simultaneously, the Regional Centre Srinagar will host the convocation ceremony at Tagore Hall, Srinagar, where 11,800 students will receive their degrees. The event will bring together students, faculty members, and distinguished guests to commemorate the academic achievements of IGNOU graduates.
IGNOU has been a pioneer in open and distance learning as well as online education, offering a diverse range of academic programs tailored to the evolving needs of students. The convocation serves as a testament to the university’s commitment to academic excellence and student empowerment.
“We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone occasion with our students, coordinators, and esteemed guests,” said Dr. A.H. Rizvi, Regional Director of IGNOU Srinagar. “The 38th Convocation reaffirms our dedication to academic excellence and student success.”
The ceremony will include the conferment of degrees, diplomas, and certificates to students who have successfully completed their programs under Regional Centre Srinagar.
IGNOU conducts admissions twice a year, in January and July sessions. Currently, admissions for the January 2025 session are open until February 28, 2025.
The university offers 316 academic programs, and this session marks the launch of seven new programs, designed to meet industry demands and enhance career prospects. The newly introduced programs include:
MA in Environmental and Occupational Health
BA in Tourism and Travel Management
BA in Education
PG Diploma in Tribal Studies
PG Diploma in Environmental and Occupational Health
PG Diploma in Waste Management
