SRINAGAR: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) continues to expand its academic offerings, introducing Four-Year Undergraduate Programs (FYUP) in line with evolving educational needs. This year, the university has launched FYUPs in Commerce, Economics, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Anthropology, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Social Work, Philosophy, Biochemistry, and Facilities & Service Management.
Students can select their preferred study centres from various Government Degree Colleges across Kashmir Valley, as well as SKIMS, NIELIT, Composite Regional Centre Srinagar, Kashmir University, and the Union Territories of Kargil and Ladakh. Additionally, Regional Centre Srinagar hosts a special study centre offering exclusive programs not available at other Learner Support Centres (LSCs).
For students pursuing Information Technology (IT) programs such as BCA, MCA, and M.Sc. (Information Security), NIELIT Srinagar serves as a dedicated study centre. Upon completion of these programs, NIELIT will provide mentorship and training to support entrepreneurship in the IT and electronics sectors.
Dr. A.H. Rizvi, Regional Director, IGNOU Srinagar, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing quality, accessible, and flexible education to learners across Kashmir and the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Responding to stakeholder requests, the university has extended the admission deadline for various programs until February 28, 2025, ensuring that prospective students who faced challenges in completing their applications have additional time to enroll.
Dr. Rizvi also announced that the last date for re-registration for January 2025 has been extended until February 28, 2025, for all programs offered in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Mode. Students in their 2nd or 3rd year are encouraged to re-register on time to avoid last-minute complications.
