SRINAGAR: The Private Schools Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) has reiterated its demand for the approval of pending registration cases of deserving private schools for classes 9th and 10th in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, PSAJK Spokesperson Dr. Souleh emphasized how disruptions over the past few years, including the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns, have severely impacted the education sector in Jammu and Kashmir. He said many private schools aspiring to offer high school education to students have been left in a state of uncertainty due to administrative delays.
“Several schools have approached the administration with all requisite documentation for upgrading their institutions, yet their requests remain in limbo. These delays are not only disheartening for schools but also detrimental to students in underserved areas,” Dr. Souleh said.
The association reiterated that most private schools in the Kashmir Valley operate with the core belief of providing affordable and accessible education, even in the remotest parts of J&K. However, the lack of timely approvals hampers their ability to serve society and fulfill their educational mission.
“It is crucial that private schools functioning with limited resources are given a fair chance to contribute to the educational landscape of the region,” Dr. Souleh added. “We urge the J&K Board of School Education and the Education Minister Sakeena Itoo to immediately review and approve the pending applications of schools that meet the required standards for upgradation to high and higher secondary levels.”
PSAJK said it remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that every child in Jammu & Kashmir has access to quality education. It has called upon the authorities to address this long-pending issue in the larger interest of students and the education sector.
