SHOPIAN01: The Division of Vegetable Science, SKUAST-Kashmir in collaboration with KVK Shopian organized an awareness cum seed distribution Program under the TSP of AICRP (Potato) at KVK Shopian.
The program aimed to promote scientific potato seed production among the farming community witnessed the participation of 40 tribal farmers.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Zaffar Afroz Badri, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Shopian, who highlighted various opportunities in the potato production sector and emphasized the importance of adopting improved cultivation techniques.
Dr. Syed Faheema Mushtaq, Principal Investigator of the project, provided detailed training on scientific methods for potato seed production, ensuring that farmers acquire practical knowledge for enhanced yield and quality.
During the program, 12.5 quintals of quality potato seed along with other agricultural inputs were distributed among beneficiaries to support and encourage sustainable potato farming in the region.
