Two militants have been killed in the late night encounter in Kanelwan village of Bijbehara Tehsil in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district after militants opened fire on the patrolling party on Thursday.
Forces had laid siege in the area after inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
Soon after the area was cordoned, militants opened fire, triggering an encounter.
In the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed.
One of the slain militants has been identified as Yawar Ahmad resident of Sherpora locality of Janglat Mandi in Anantnag Town. He had joined Militant ranks only ten days ago.
One SLR,2 magazines , one grenade and one pouch recovered.
