Seeks CBI probe into irregularities
SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association on Thursday has raised serious concerns over the recent JKP Constable Telecommunication results declared by the JKSSB on January 20, 2025. The Association has pointed out major discrepancies and a lack of transparency in the system.
Nasir Khuehami, National Convenor of the Association, in a statement said, “Over 5.59 lakh candidates were to take exams for 4,002 constable positions announced by the government. Since 2019, this examination has served as a major recruitment drive and the only hope for many aspiring students.”
Khuehami further emphasized that the major discrepancies found upon reviewing the score sheets issued by the Department have raised serious questions about the integrity of the current recruitment process, which is neither transparent nor just. He urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene, while ensuring that those sabotaging the future of deserving candidates are held accountable.
Khuehami while emphasizing the principles of merit and justice in all competitive examinations, said, “The aspirations of the brightest minds of the valley are being crushed due to a flawed system and administrative blunders. This is not a one-time incident; rather, it has been the pattern of the JKSSB to compromise the future of students due to their inability to maintain fairness and transparency.”
He asserted, “How can someone who scored zero or negative marks in a simpler paper suddenly top a highly technical and challenging exam? It’s illogical and unfair,” he said. “Also, every time there’s an exam, there’s an inquiry. How will the future of students be shaped if we keep dealing with these inquiries? Only a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe can restore faith in the system, he added.
Osheeba Bashir, National Media Coordinator of Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, vehemently condemned this outright betrayal of the youth of the valley. Bashir further stated, “The JKSSB issued the JKP Constable (Telecommunication & Photography) posts after a significant gap of 8 years, and it was supposed to be a breakthrough point for students in their professional journey. However, students who performed poorly in other related exams have somehow managed to secure top ranks in the Telecommunication results, which has left students in a state of utter disbelief and hysteria.”
She further added that time and again, the students of J&K have repeatedly faced obstacles in securing what is rightfully theirs, and the flawed recruitment system has substantially sabotaged the future of the youth.
Malik Adnan, National Secretary of the Association, said, “The repeated shielding of those responsible, with nothing more than convenient transfers, only fuels the public’s anger and distrust. Heads must roll, and accountability must be ensured. The recruitment process must be reviewed, and concrete actions should be taken to prevent such malpractices from recurring.”
The Association has urged the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister to personally take cognizance of this matter and initiate a comprehensive and impartial inquiry. If these matters are not taken seriously, they could have long-term repercussions on the credibility of recruitment agencies and public institutions.
