BANDIPORA: Bandipora Police on Wednesday said it recovered Rs 5.50 lakh and 19 stolen smartphones worth Rs 3 lakh in actions against financial fraud and theft.
During a press conference, police officials said they had received multiple complaints from the public regarding financial frauds, missing mobile phones, and social media-related crimes. Acting on these complaints, the police traced and recovered Rs 5.50 lakh from fraudsters’ accounts. The recovered amount was refunded to the victims after completing the required legal formalities.
In addition, 19 missing or stolen smartphones, valued at approximately Rs 3 lakh, were retrieved and handed back to their rightful owners, they said.
Recipients of the recovered money and mobile phones expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the relentless efforts of Bandipora Police in resolving their cases and recovering their hard-earned money and belongings.
The Bandipora Police have urged the public to remain cautious while using mobile phones and electronic devices to avoid falling prey to cyber frauds and crimes.
“Citizens are encouraged to report any cyber-related crime immediately through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal at www.cybercrime.gov.in, by calling the toll-free number 1930, or by contacting the nearest police unit or Cyber Crime Cell at DPO Bandipora,” police said.
