KUPWARA: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Kupwara and recovered a contraband substance from his possession.
“A Police party of Police Station Sogam at a checkpoint established at Lassipora, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Rayees Ahmad Bhat son of Ali Mohammad Bhat resident of Kanthpora. During the search, approximately 35 grams of a charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 61/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sogam and an investigation has been initiated,” police said in a statement.
Police added, “We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with the police in curbing the menace of drugs in the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.”
