JKASW conducts training on grievance redressal for schools in Hajin

HAJIN: The Jammu and Kashmir Association of Social Workers (JKASW), under its flagship project “Koor Cha Noor” sponsored by the Azim Premji Foundation, organized an extensive training programme for teachers and Heads of Institutions (HOIs) in Zone Hajin. The initiative focused on strengthening grievance redressal mechanisms in schools to address students’ concerns effectively.
The programme aimed at equipping educators with tools and strategies to manage students’ issues while maintaining confidentiality and fostering sensitivity. Key topics included managing academic stress, understanding the POCSO Act 2012, safeguarding child rights, and addressing mental health challenges faced by students.
Experts emphasized the importance of establishing formal grievance cells within schools, offering students a safe, judgment-free space to voice their concerns. JKASW Project Manager, Dr. Kulsum Bhat, underscored the critical need for inclusive systems. “A robust grievance redressal mechanism is not just a protocol; it is a pillar of student well-being,” she remarked during the event.
The training also introduced practical strategies such as appointing trained counselors, implementing anonymous reporting systems, and organizing regular awareness sessions. Teachers were guided on best practices for fostering open communication and resolving grievances promptly and effectively.
The session was conducted by Dr Asima Hassan Chairperson childwelfare committe .
The session was attended by Zonal Coordinator Muntazir Muneer, Dr. Kulsum Bhat, HOIs, and several teachers from Zone Hajin.
