Director North Campus KU inaugurates RABONA-2024

First-ever 7-a-side football tournament begins at campus

BARAMULLA: The Sports Committee of the North Campus of Kashmir University is organizing a 7-a-side inter-department football tournament at the Upper-Delina Campus of the University. More than eight teams from different departments of the campus are participating in the four-day tournament. Dr. Sheikh Gh. Mohammed, Director of North Campus, inaugurated the tournament.

In his inaugural remarks, Dr. Sheikh Gh. Mohammed reiterated his commitment to providing all necessary support for co-curricular activities at the campus to combat mental stress, drug addiction, and the growing trend of aggressive driving tendencies among youth. He said, “I congratulate the Sports Committee for organizing this 7-a-side football tournament titled RABONA-2024. I am sure this will bring a new spirit and enthusiasm to our students in their preparations for the upcoming examinations, help de-stress them, and provide relief from the cold.”

Dr. Sheikh further stated, “North Campus has many issues with sports infrastructure, and all the best possible efforts will be made to upgrade our sports facilities. In fact, I would emphasize that sports provide solutions to many of our issues related to mental, physical, and emotional well-being.”

The Director also announced that the Campus NSS Committee will soon organize a “Beat the Cold Campaign.”

Convener of Sports, Dr. Mohammad Ameen Parray, while briefing the campus officials and students present on the occasion, said, “We are going to have a series of sports events before the winter vacations, and RABONA-2024 is the beginning of this series.” He added, “I am sure our students will have a lot of fun, and such events will motivate them to aim for better and higher-level competitions.” He announced, “Immediately after the RABONA-2024 football tournament, we will organize cricket, volleyball, table tennis, and kho-kho tournaments at the campus.”

Members of the organizing committee present on the occasion included Dr. Viqar un Nisa, Dr. Faruq Ahmad Sheikh, Mohammad Sajjad Dar, and Fayaz Ahmad Dar. Noted academics who graced the inaugural session included Dr. Faisal Qadir, Mr. Bilal Ahmad Kaloo, Dr. Bilal Ahmad, and many others.

The Director of North Campus wished the opening contestants all the best and declared the tournament open.
