Dir Agri flags off 72 progressive farmers for seven-day interstate training program

SRINAGAR: A group of 72 progressive farmers from various districts of the Kashmir division—including Kupwara, Baramulla, Budgam, Bandipora, Ganderbal, and Anantnag—was flagged off today by Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal, for an interstate exposure and training program at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.
The seven-day training program has been organized by the Deputy Directorate of Agriculture (Trainings) under NMAET (ATMA) 2024-25.
While interacting with the farmers, Chowdhury Iqbal emphasized that the program aims to familiarize farmers with the latest technologies in commercial farming, real-time trends in agriculture, and the scientific cultivation of various crops. He noted that developing skilled human resources and building the capacity of farmers are among the department’s top priorities.
He encouraged the progressive farmers to engage with agricultural scientists, experts, and extension functionaries to learn about up-to-date methodologies in crop cultivation. He urged them to enhance their technical skills in crop farming and to adopt advanced technologies learned from these training and exposure visits.
The Deputy Director of Agriculture (Trainings), Kashmir, provided further details about the program, stating that the group of farmers would visit Punjab Agricultural University during their tour.
Many farmers expressed their gratitude to the department for this opportunity, stating that the tour would significantly enhance their knowledge and skills.
Several senior officers from the department were also present at the event.
