SRINAGAR: Continuing its steadfast motive towards a drug-free society and promoting a sense of belonging and unity, police in Kulgam organised an awareness programme on drug abuse and national integration at Bagdad Educational Trust Qazigund. The event was attended by over 100 students and staff members.
The programme was focused on educating the participants about the ill effects of substance abuse thereby preventing their usage and encouraging the spirit of patriotism and brotherhood, police said in a statement issued here.
During the programme an informative lecture, addressing the early signs of substance abuse, methods of detection and identification of potential abusers was delivered by SDPO Qazigund Rameez Raja. He said the aim of organising such events is to bridge the gap between police and the public.
Moreover, the treatments that are available for drug addicts were also discussed in detail. The event also emphasized the crucial role that teachers play in the prevention of substance abuse.
