Mehfil-e-Mushaira in Pulwama promotes Urdu literature

PULWAMA: The Department of Education, in collaboration with the Chief Education Officer Pulwama and the Azad Memorial Foundation, organized a significant literary program cum Mehfil-e-Mushaira at Government Higher Secondary School Pulwama on Monday.
The event was graced by Chief Education Officer Pulwama Abdul Qayoom Nadvi, renowned writer and poet Dr. Rabeena Mir, President of Azad Memorial Foundation Shakeel Ahmad Azad, and the Principal of Girls Higher Secondary School Pulwama. The program saw a large attendance of writers, authors, poets, and students.
Throughout the program, writers, scholars, and authors provided detailed insights into the martyrdom of Karbala, describing it as a monumental sacrifice. Poets from various regions recited eulogies and essays, paying heartfelt tributes to the martyrs of Shuhada-e-Karbala in an exemplary manner.
The participants not only honored the legacy of the martyrs but also highlighted the enduring significance of their sacrifice, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation among the attendees.
Chief Education Officer Pulwama Abdul Qayoom Nadvi stated that the gathering holds special significance. He emphasized the importance of connecting with the essence of poetry to keep culture and traditions alive. Nadvi highlighted the unique identity Urdu poetry has given the Urdu language worldwide and stressed the educational responsibility to instill an interest in poetry and literature among children. He expressed concern that distancing from the Urdu language and its literature would be a significant loss to the community and that future generations would not forgive the loss of traditional and cultural heritage.
The special highlight of the gathering was the presence of the renowned poetess Rubeena Mir, who joined from Rajouri. Her presence greatly enhanced the honor and significance of the event, and she recited her poetry. Additionally, local female poets participated in the gathering. Nadvi assured that efforts to organize such events would continue in the future.
