Pampore’s Tulbagh residents appeal for macadamisation of link roads

Must read

PAMPORE: Residents of the Tulbagh locality in Saffron Town, Pampore, in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, are appealing to authorities for the repair and macadamisation of several important link roads. They report that these roads have been in a dilapidated condition for many years, attributing the neglect to the Roads & Buildings (R&B) department.
The Tulbagh housing colony, established in 1980, has long suffered from neglect. Despite some minor works in certain areas, the main thoroughfares remain in disrepair, causing significant inconvenience, especially during rain and snow. The six main lanes of the colony are particularly affected, causing hardship for commuters and residents alike, local residents told Kashmir Reader.
The residents have requested the Deputy Commissioner of Pulwama and the R&B department to fulfill their long-pending demand for road macadamisation, highlighting the importance of this work for the general public’s benefit. They also emphasized the need for improvements in the drainage system, stressing that these repairs are crucial for improving their quality of life.
Speaking to Kashmir Reader, Muneer Ahmad, Chairman of the Mohalla Committee, said, “This housing colony in Tulbagh came into being in 1980 but unfortunately it has been ignored. Since then, no department has taken responsibility to improve or maintain the drains. Commuters face inconvenience during rain and snow, and we have turned the attention of authorities towards the bad condition of roads in our colony many times.” He mentioned their applications to the former minister and the Administration, especially the R&B department, but no action has been taken.
Another resident, Ghulam Rasool Khan, who has lived in the colony since 1984, echoed these concerns. “The roads of our colony are in terrible shape and need urgent repairs. We appeal to the authorities of R&B to address our grievances.”
