PAMPORE: In a bid to crack down on illegal pharmaceutical activities, Drugs Control Officer Peerzada Tasaduq Hussain conducted a surprise inspection of medical shops in the Beerwah and Khag tehsils of Budgam district on Tuesday. During the inspection, four unlicensed medical shops were sealed.
The shops, which were operating without proper licenses, were run by Aijaz Ahmad in Takiabal Beerwah, Irshad Ahmad in Goripora Beerwah, Khursheed Ahmad Qureshi in Shanglipora Khag, and Gulzar Ahmad in Gujjar Pati Khag, Hussain told Kashmir Reader.
In addition to sealing the unlicensed establishments, two licensed medical shops were closed due to non-compliance with mandatory CCTV installation requirements, the officer said, adding that the identities of the operators of these licensed shops have not been disclosed.
The Drugs Control Department has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all chemists and pharmaceutical retailers adhere strictly to the provisions of the law. All chemists in the area have been instructed to install CCTV systems in their premises to enhance monitoring and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Officer Hussain emphasized the importance of adherence to legal norms for the safety and well-being of the public, warning that strict actions would continue against those flouting regulations.
