Pampore: In a concerted effort to tackle traffic violations on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in Pampore, south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Traffic Police Rural Kashmir, in collaboration with other Traffic Police officers, conducted a joint special drive. During this operation, over a hundred challans were issued for offenses ranging from over height/over length violations to dangerous driving.
SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, Ravinder Pal Singh, and DYSP Traffic Pulwama-Shopian, Dr. Mudasser Tramboo, spearheaded the special drive in the Chandhara NH-44 area of Pampore. The challans were issued for various offenses under the Motor Vehicle Act, such as lack of insurance, absence of fitness certification, excess passengers, missing HSRP, triple riding, no helmet, and overloading.
On-the-spot counseling sessions were conducted to educate drivers and commuters about the importance of adhering to traffic rules, regulations, and safety measures. The crackdown, spanning major towns, inter-district routes, and National Highway NH44, aims to enforce traffic laws, enhance safety, and prevent fatal accidents, with a primary focus on saving lives.
SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, Ravinder Pal Singh, emphasized the mission to minimize road accidents and fatalities, declaring zero tolerance for all forms of overloading, whether goods or passengers. Parents were specifically urged not to permit their teenagers to operate vehicles without a valid driver’s license, warning that non-compliance could lead to penalties under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Reiterating the importance of following traffic rules, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir warned that strict action would be taken against those found violating regulations in the district. The initiative is part of an ongoing commitment to fostering road safety and preventing traffic-related incidents.
