Srinagar: Acting tough against the drug smugglers, Police attached two storied house valued about Rs 21.97 lacs and cash amounting to Rs 69.20 lacs of drug smugglers under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of NDPS Act 1985in Uri area of Baramulla.
Baramulla Police led by SDPO Uri Sh Shokat Ali-JKPS under the overall supervision of Ms. Divya D-IPS SP Hqrs Baramulla attached double storied house valued approximately Rs 21.97 lacs & Cash Rs 69.20 lacs belonging to drug smuggler namely Ghulam Rasool Sheikh son of Abdul Aziz Sheikh resident of Nambla Uri & others after completing all legal formalities. The said house was linked to case FIR No. 81/2023 under section 8/21, 29 NDPS Act of Police Station Uri. The investigation proved that the said immovable/ movable property was raised from illicit trafficking by the drug smugglers.
It is pertinent to mention here that, earlier Baramulla Police has attached properties worth 68.65 lacs of drug smugglers which include 2 houses, 3 vehicles & cash to the tune of Rs 41.72 lacs in Pattan, Kreeri & Kamalkote. Besides, SAFEM (FOP) A & NDPSA, New Delhi confirmed attachment of property (Illegal acquired property by drug smugglers) orders of Baramulla Police at Pattan & Kreeri in which house and vehicle was attached.
General people of the area hailed the initiative of J&K Police with regard to attachment of moveable/ immovable property which has been raised/ used for illicit trafficking by the drug smugglers.
