SRINAGAR: KVK Srinagar kick started seven days long STRY programme for rural youth titled “Innovative methods of Composting for boosting Employment generation and Agri-entrerenurship among Rural Youth and School Dropouts”being organized in association with SAMETI and MANAGE Hyderabad on Monday.
The programme was attended by Dr. Sajad Mohiuddin, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Srinagar, Prof. F. A. Lone, Division of Environmental Sciences, Prof. N A Kirmani, Division of Soil Sciences, SKUAST-K Shalimar, Scientists from KVK Srinagar and 28 trainees. In his inaugural address,Sr. Scientist & Head KVK Srinagar highlighted the importance of skill oriented trainings for rural youth and school dropouts.
He impressed upon the participating youth to equip themselves with the necessary skills and technical knowhow, so that it can pave way for employment generation not only for them but also for others as well.Coordinator of the programme Dr. Uzma Bashir (Scientist Soil Sciences) presented the overview of the programme, wherein she mentioned that the trainees will get benefited through expert lectures, practical demonstrations and exposure visits during these seven days. The programme was moderated by Dr. Aasima Rafiq and vote of thanks given by Dr. Saima Paul.
