PAMPORE: The Wildlife Department Officials captured another black bear alive in Pampore village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district late Tuesday evening.
Wildlife department officials caught one more black bear after it got trapped in the cage from Mundakpal village of Pampore Tehsil late Tuesday evening around 9.30 Pm.
The bear was seen some days ago in the area and since then the department had increased surveillance, installed a cage in the area, Wildlife Ranger Khursheed Ahmad told Kashmir Reader.
He informed Kashmir Reader that it was the third black bear captured by the wildlife department Range Office Khrew in the last five days by Wildlife Range Khrew.
He said that a black bear was roaming in the area for the past few days due to which a fear was gripped among the locals of the area.
The leopard was seen some time ago in the area and since then the department had increased surveillance,
He said that after receiving its information a team of wildlife department experts including casual labourers reached the area and accordingly a cage was installed.
On Tuesday evening received information about the presence of black bear, the team rushed to the spot and the bear was alive without causing any injury. The locals of the area heaved a sigh of relief after the wild animal was captured, he said.
Search for another black bear continued in the Mundakpal village, and a cage was installed in the area.
The captured bear was later on released into its natural habitat Dachigam.
Earlier, on Friday two black bears were captured by wildlife department Range Khrew at Ladhoo area of Pampore.
The black bears fell into a 15 feet deep dry well, rescued by the Wildlife department in a four hour long operation.
Meanwhile, locals of the area appreciated wildlife officials from Range office Khrew for the timely action.
They secured the lives of residents and livestock from possible damage by capturing the black bear.
