Srinagar: A seven day long workshop on “Understanding Basics of Research Methodology & Statistical Tools used in Animal Sciences” was inaugurated at Faculty Outreach Centre, FVSc& AH, SKUAST-Kashmir Shuhama.
The workshop is being organized by Division of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir and is sponsored by Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) Govt. of India under its Accelerate Vigyan Scheme. The workshop is scheduled from 14th – 21stDec. 2022, wherein about 25 Postgraduate scholars from various universities across the country are participating and understanding the basics of the research methodology & utilization of statistical tools.
Prof.Sarfaraz Ahmad Wani, Director Research SKUAST-Kashmir presided over asthe Chief Guest in inaugural session of the workshop while Dean Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry Prof. Mohammad TufailBandaywasthe Guest of Honour. In addition to participants various Heads of Divisions and other Faculty members were also present in an impressive inaugural function.
In his inaugural address,Prof.Sarfaraz,holding chair of Director Research in the university emphasised the need and importance of research methodology toachieve aims and objectives of any scientific study in an impactful manner. He also highlighted the role of modern statistical tools in analysing the research problems and their solutions for an overall development of the society.
Prof.M. T. Banday also spoke on the role of statistics and its contours associated with livestock research in present era with a visible relationship to effective understanding of the outcomesofscientific trials. He further hoped that the present workshop will inculcate a proper scientific temperament among the participants in a sustainable manner for their better professional conduct at work.
Earlier Prof. Abdul Hai, Head Division Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension formally welcomed the guests and introduced the participants while Dr. Afzal Hoque Akand, Associate Professor& event organizer gave a brief account about the workshop and its upcoming sessions. The inaugural function ended with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Shabeer Ahmad Hamdani, Assistant Professor Division of Vety. & AH Extension, FVSc& AH Shuhama.
