SRINAGAR: Dryland Agriculture Research Station celebrated World Soil Day on the theme “Soils- Where Food Begins” under the able guidance of Prof. Z.A.Dar, Associate Director Research, DARS-Rangreth. More than 75 farmers and students from various schools attended the programme.
Prof. S.A.Dar welcomed the participants and gave brief introduction on the importance of soil health. Dr Aamir Hassan, Scientist Soil Science, DARS-Rangreth gave brief presentation on importance of world soil day. The scientist emphasized that soil is integral part of our lives and under present scenario of increasing human population and depleting natural resources conservation.
Associate Director Research emphasized the participants to honour soil and promote awareness about the need to increase organic matter in our soil, which can enhance productivity level manifold. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Prof A.A.Lone, Scientist, DARS-Rangreth.
