Srinagar: A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) trooper committed suicide on Saturday in Gurez area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Sources said that a CISF constable identified as Kamaljeet Singh, 28, son of Satpal Singh, a resident of Pathankot posted at Dam site Kishanganga Hydroelectric project in Gurez ended his life by allegedly shooting himself dead with his service rifle.
The body was shifted to Sub district hospital Gurez for medico-legal formalities.
A police officer confirmed the incident and said proceedings under section 174 of Indian Penal code have been initiated in this regard.
