Engineers to launch state-wide protest against govt’s ‘stepmotherly’ treatment

SRINAGAR: The State Joint Action Committee (SJAC) – an amalgam of all graduate engineering associations – on Friday organised a one day convention of all engineers of civil, mechanical and electrical, at R&B Dak Bungalow, Khanabal, to discuss the “step motherly treatment” meted out to engineers.

All the graduate engineers of south Kashmir participated and unanimously criticised the “non seriousness” of government towards resolution of long pending issues confronting the engineers which include regularisation of adhoc promotions, SRO for cabinet approved ACP, correction in GP of JEs and enhancement of FTA etc, a statement issued here said.

It was unanimously resolved that “all the democratic means have exhausted and we are left with no option but to protest”. It was decided that in the first instance of protest calendar, all engineers will go on state-wide protest leave on July 16 and big sit-in protests will be held at PDD complex Bemina, Srinagar and other venues chosen in Jammu and Ladakh.
