Sehrai voices concern over deteriorating health of jailed TeH leader’s wife

SRINAGAR: Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) chairman Mohamad Ashraf Sehrai on Tuesday voiced concern over the worsening health condition of jailed TeH leader Ayaz Akbar’s wife and urged the government to release him immediately on humanitarian grounds.
In a statement, he said that her condition has rapidly deteriorated and is again admitted at SKIMS, Soura .
“She has been c diagnosed with metastatic cancer. It is unfortunate that she is laying on the death bed and gazing out to see the glimpse of her husband,” he said.
Sehrai asked the authorities to release incarcerated leader immediately on humanitarian grounds who is in the NIA’s custody keeping in view the worsening health condition of his wife.
“This is a gross human rights violation that the wife of a man is dying with a fatal disease and she has to rely on her young traumatized children’s at this point in time when she needed her husband the most,” he said.
Sehrai also urged the Amnesty International and other human rights bodies to intervene and impress upon the authorities to facilitate Ayaz Akber’s release. He appealed to the people to pray for the speedy recovery of Ayaz Akber’s wife.
