Work on 105 languishing projects on in Kathua DC reviews progress

KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Dr Raghav Langer on Monday reviewed the status of languishing projects approved by the Jammu and Kashmir Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (JKIDFC) Limited here at a meeting of line departments.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Dr Shubra Sharma, SE M&RE Circle Sandeep Seth, Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh, and the CEOs, XENs and executive officers of all concerned departments including the Power Development Department (PDD), Irrigation, Public Health Engineering (PHE), Roads and Buildings (R&B), Project Wing PDD and the Principal, Government Polytechnic. The DC took a scheme-wise review of projects undertaken by the different departments funded under the Languishing Project Scheme in the district.

The meeting was informed that an amount of Rs 336.60 crore has been approved in aggregate for 96 languishing projects in the Power Sector, PHE, R&B, Health, School Education, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sheep Husbandry, Rural Development, Youth Services and Sports, Industries and Higher and Technical Education in the district. The balance amount required for completing these projects is Rs. 190 crore.

It was also informed in the meeting that nine new projects, eight in R&B and one in the PHE sector have also been appended to the list of languishing projects, which increased the total number of projects to 105. The DC stressed upon the officials to gear up men and machinery and work with added zeal so that all languishing projects are completed within the stipulated time frame.

He also asked them to meet the set targets well in time and ensure that transparency is maintained in the execution of the projects. He also directed the District Treasury Officer and District Informatics Officer to conduct an orientation- cum-training programme regarding uploading information of languishing projects on the website.
