Sehrai condemns ‘ill treatment’ of prisoners in Baramulla jail

SRINAGAR: Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai on Monday condemned the “ill treatment” of Kashmiri detainees in Baramulla jail.
In a statement, Sehrai said, “Jail authorities have made the life of Kashmiri prisoners very difficult. As per reports, the behaviour of jail authorities is very aggressive. Even basic jail manual facilities at times are denied to inmates which is highly condemnable.”
He said jail authorities are not only violating the international covenants but also the fundamental and constitutional rights of these prisoners.
He asked authorities to provide suitable treatment and facilities to all prisoners and ensure their relatives get a proper access to meet them without any hindrance.
Meanwhile ,Sehrai has expressed heartfelt grief over the demise of mother of Atif Hassan of Anantnag. He expressed condolence and sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
