‘Will hold special camps to list eligible persons’
RAJOURI: District Administration Rajouri has decided to extend old-age pension benefits to maximum number of eligible persons.
For the purpose, it is going to organise special camps to list the deserving persons for providing them benefits of National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) and Integrated Social Security Scheme.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad chaired a meeting of the officers/officials of the Social Welfare Department and the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) to devise a mechanism for re-scrutinisation, Aadhaar-linked payment mode for disbursal of pensions to the beneficiaries under these centrally/state sponsored schemes and for inclusion of all the left-out beneficiaries.
The Social Welfare Department is providing a monthly pension to the beneficiaries in the state under two schemes, i.e. the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), which is a blend of centre and state shares, and the Integrated Social Security schemes.
District Social Welfare Officer informed that 34,000 persons are availing the benefits of pension under different schemes in the district. He also informed that there are 18,000 pending cases in the district which need to be verified.
The DDC said re-scrutinising of the database is very important so that no eligible beneficiary, viz old-aged people, widows or differently-abled persons are left out and denied the benefit of the pension.
He said special camps will be organised at the Tehsil level for three days to re-scrutinise and collect the forms from left-out, eligible persons. Meanwhile, the DDC also reviewed the state Marriage Assistance scheme, the functioning of Bal ashrams and pre- and post-matric scholarship disbursement.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer Shama-un Ahmed, District Social Welfare Officer Mohammad Naseeb, CDPO Manjakote, Rajouri, Darhal, Kalakote and all the Tehsil Social Welfare officers.
