  • J&K Police defeat State Football Academy by solitary goal
  • DDC Bandipora inaugurates provincial level inter-district sports competition

BANDIPORA: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza on Monday inaugurated the provincial level inter-district sports competition at Bandipora. The competition is being organised by District Youth Services and Sports.
As many as 1000 students from all age groups including boys and girls from across the state are participating in the sports activities including Throwball, Handball and Kickboxing. Four matches were played on the day-one in Under-17 and Under-19 category. The tourney will continue till 20th of this month.
On the occasion, DDC Bandipora called upon the youth especially girls to vigorously participate in sports and athletic activities apart from pursuing their academic and curricular activities. He said the youth of Bandipora are performing well in sports activities and have earned laurels for the district at national and international level.
“The district has produced some of the popular sportspersons including young kickboxing champion Tajamul Islam while youngsters have also shown extraordinary interest in several other sports activities including football,” he said.
DDC said the administration is putting all possible efforts to support and channelise the talent of the youth in the right directions. “The sports infrastructure is being developed in every village of the district and during the recent ‘Back to Village’ programme numerous playground were either inaugurated or foundations were laid for providing an opportunity for the youth to channelise their energy,” he said.
Keeping in view the interest of the youngsters in sports, the administration is duty-bound to provide opportunities to the youngsters and for the same sports infrastructure is being developed on a large scale, he said adding that recently flood lights have been installed in SK Stadium Bandipora and soon day-night matches will be played at the stadium that will be the new attraction for the sports-loving people of the district.
On the occasion, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad said the aim of conducting the tournament is to highlight the hidden talent of the youth of the district and to give recognition to them at national and international level.
SRINAGAR: In the ongoing State Annual League Football tournament, five matches were played at Synthetic Turf TRC Ground on Sunday.
The first match of Senior Division was played between Qamarwai FC and SFA Blues. Qamarwari FC defeated SFA Blues by one goal to nil.
The second match of Senior Divisoin match was played between Radpora FC and Young Mohammada FC, Rainawari . Radpora FC defeated Young Mohammadan FC by four goals to nil.
The third match of Super Division was played between Jehlum FC and Young Maharaja Club. Jehlum FC won by 2:0 against Young Maharaja Club. Fourth match of Super Division was played between Hyderya FC and Real Kashmir U-18, Real Kashmir U-18 defeated Hyderya FC by two goals to nil.
The fifth match of the Premier Division was played between J&K Police XI and State Football Academy (SFA). Both the teams played aggressive football. In the tenth minute of the first half, Nanjot Singh converted a free kick directly in the goal and took the lead. In the 25th minute of the first half, J&K Police missed an open net chance to double the lead the first half score 1:0 in favour of J&K Police. The second half of the match was dominated by Young boys of SFA and penetrated the defence line of J&K Police many times but could not find the net. This was a high voltage match and SFA boys missed a sure short goal in the dying movement of second half. The match ended with J&k Police defeating SFA XI by a solitary goal.
The tournament is being organised by District Football Association Srinagar, Medical Partner Rahim Green and football sponsor Sports International (VECTOR).
