Leopard injured in road accident rescued by officials

BARAMULLA: A leopard injured in a road accident in Uri area of Baramulla district was rescued by the wildlife officials on Saturday evening. Wildlife officials said that a leopard was hit by a speedy vehicle in Chalan area of Uri on Srinagar Muzafarabad road on Friday afternoon when it was crossing the road. Soon after receiving information from locals, they said, a team of wildlife officials reached the spot, rescued the animal and moved him to a hospital for treatment. Officials said that it was the first such incident of the year when a wild animal was hit by a vehicle. Due to the rescue operation traffic movement was stopped on the highway for some time. Sources in the department said that the animal was in a critical condition.
