Kashmir Basketball League begins at Indoor stadium

SRINAGAR: A 3-day Kashmir Basketball League started from Friday at the Indoor Stadium Srinagar. More than 18 teams are participating in both Boys as well as Girls category.
The league is being organised by Wasiq Ashraf and Danish Pandit. The sponsors are Adeeb International, Manchester Education, Amigos, Sports 11 Cafe and the Nail Room by Savvy.
On the first day, a total of nine matches were played.
The main aim behind organising the tournament is to provide a platform to the players of the valley to showcase their talent.
“The league will provide a platform to the basketball players of the valley as in Kashmir, “Danish said.
He said the reason behind the poor performance of Kashmiri players outside valley is not only the conflict but also lack of opportunities.
The players participating in the tournament showed excitement and are all praise for the organisers.
“Such kind of tournaments not only encourage but also provide us with a platform to showcase our talent in the game,” Labeeb Bhat, a player said.
These tournaments also make us identify our flaws and the points where we lag behind, hence help us improve our game and play better, he added.
