Hurriyat voices concern over worsening health of Geelani

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference on Friday voiced concern over the worsening health condition of its chairman Syed Ali Geelani and said that although physical weakness is because of his advanced age, “but continued confinement in his house has grossly affected his well-being”.
“Keeping a political personality away from his routine engagements and forcibly preventing him from participating in any social, religious or family function puts a lot of stress. It is surprising that the government is scared of an old, frail man and feels comfortable by putting curbs on his activities,” the amalgam spokesman said in a statement.
He said that pulling all along through his turbulent political carrier, “Geelani has always been an eyesore for the opponents”.
“When they failed to get him in line, they started targeting his children and grandchildren through so-called investigating agencies,” he said.
He added that it is only by the grace of Allah and prayers of his well-wishers—that he is determined to stand his ground.
“Despite his bad health, he chaired an important meeting of the forum, but because of his chest infection and physical weakness, he is under the strict advice of doctors and is recovering,” he stated.
Hurriyat appealed to the people to pray for the speedy recovery of Geelani.
