Slam highway ban
Uri: JKPM chief Shah Faesal and AIP president Er Rasheed on Thursday said that the Peoples United Front (PUF) will do everything to represent the aspirations of people.
They were speaking at a gathering in Uri, the statement said.
Faesal said, “Had NC and PDP not cheated people of JK, New Delhi’s utterances would not have reached the level that has made the life of Kashmiris worse than hell.”
“Those talking about unity and division of votes if apologise for their past mistakes, take a pledge to represent true sentiments of masses and assure people of the state that they will not form a government with BJP, PUF will consider joining hands with them,” he said.
He urged New Delhi and Islamabad to facilitate people to people contact and restrain from adding to the miseries of people living on either side of LoC.
Rasheed accused New Delhi of polarising innocent mindsets by subjecting them to “mental torture”. He said, “It is Kashmiris who make Amarnath yatra a success. Curbing movement of vehicles and abandoning train service between Banihal and Kashmir speaks volumes of arrogance and sick mindset of the government.”
“By making common Kashmiri suffer, the government is not doing anything good neither to yatris nor to so-called national interest. The government of India must immediately intervene and ensure that the ban is revoked as the decision has not only hit the interests of common man but has also hurt the self-respect of every Kashmiri,” he said.
Rasheed while lashing out at NC and PDP, asked their leadership not to take public for granted and be prepared for the worst results in upcoming assembly elections. He said, “PUF is need of the hour and a serious effort to unite people everywhere without involving egos, self-interest or politics of exploitation. The masses have been deprived of their political and fundamental rights. The way NHPC has been acting like East India Company, NC and PDP leadership must explain how they facilitated all draconian steps taken by NHPC from time to time. Before seeking votes these parties should tell people of Uri, why couldn’t they provide them mobile connectivity in almost half of the hamlets?”
He asked the government to explain the logic behind abandoning bus service from Uri to Muzafarabad. He said it is unfortunate that while bus service is operating from Ponch to Rawlakote, the same has been suspended between Uri and Muzafarabad.
He urged the government to revisit its decision and resume the bus service so that the divided families get some sigh of relief.
